Brazilian Fintechs and Digital Banks Seen as Key to Financial Inclusion

A survey of 1,800 Brazilian adults aged 18‑65 commissioned by 99Pay found that 74% of respondents credit digital banks and fintechs with expanding access to financial services for low‑income populations. Support is strongest among users whose primary account is with a digital institution, with 80% saying fintechs have improved inclusion, compared with 68% of traditional‑bank customers. Women respondents show slightly higher approval (77%) than men (71%). Regional confidence varies, with the Centro‑Oeste at 79% and the North at 70%.

Parallel commentary highlights the growing appeal of digital accounts, which often waive maintenance fees, offer automatic yields tied to the CDI, and integrate services like Pix and digital wallets, while still operating under supervision of Brazil's central bank and deposit insurance. Traditional banks retain advantages in face‑to‑face service and loan negotiations, but the overall trend points to digital offerings reshaping the Brazilian banking landscape.
