Brazilian gambler with gambling addiction sues Sportingbet for R$ 647 k
A Brazilian bettor diagnosed with severe ludopathy filed a lawsuit seeking the nullification of bets placed on Sportingbet and the restitution of R$ 647,000, along with moral damages and a ban on his registration with betting platforms. The plaintiff also initiated a similar claim against Betano. The 9ª Vara Cível in Natal identified a procedural connection between the two actions and ordered them to be tried together. The plaintiff appealed, arguing that each case involves distinct defendants and legal grounds, and should remain separate. Sportingbet defended the court's decision, asserting that both suits share the same factual‑legal basis centered on the claimant’s gambling disorder.
