Brazilian gender forums stress men’s role in ending violence against women

An essay calls for the end of the so‑called “sex war” by promoting mutual respect, empathy and partnership between men and women, rejecting rivalry and harmful stereotypes and stressing the importance of healthy relationships for individuals and families.

At the 20th Confup conference in Brazil, the third panel titled “Women Alive – the role of men in this fight” featured scholars and a councilwoman who pointed to the country’s high femicide figures and urged the dismantling of toxic masculinity and the confrontation of both physical and symbolic gender‑based violence.
