Brazilian Left-Wing Pre‑Candidates Launch Regional Campaigns

PSTU pre‑presidential candidate Hertz Dias visited Curitiba on Saturday, 18 May, to distribute pamphlets in the city centre and formally launch his 2026 pre‑candidacy at the Leon Trotsky Space. The event also featured PSTU’s state‑level candidates Samuel de Mattos and Helena Figueiredo, and highlighted the party’s platform, which calls for ending the 6×1 work schedule, raising wages to the Dieese‑calculated minimum, revoking labour and pension reforms, defending public services and national sovereignty, and placing the country’s wealth under workers’ control.

In São José do Rio Preto on Friday, 17 May, PT pre‑governor candidate Fernando Haddad said his pre‑campaign will focus on delivering verified data on health, education and public security to interior voters. Haddad announced plans to create a government programme aimed at restoring São Paulo’s innovation capacity, citing past achievements during his tenure as mayor of the capital. He stressed that transparent, data‑driven information will help citizens assess the state’s situation and choose a better future.
