Overview

Candidate activity in Brazil’s 2026 elections continued to broaden in July. The Novo Party named businessman Mauro Campos as its Senate pre‑candidate for Rio de Janeiro, while André Marinho (Novo) launched a governor‑race critique of incumbent Eduardo Paes. On 9 June a slate of eleven pre‑candidates for the Rio governorship and seven for the Senate was released, adding names such as Anthony Garotinho, Wilson Witzel and Benedita da Silva.
