Brazilian municipal health agencies roll out training and street actions to curb Aedes aegypti

The municipal health department of Primavera do Leste and Campo Verde in Brazil conducted a comprehensive occupational safety and mental‑health training for agents who combat endemic diseases. The programme covered risk‑prevention guidelines, proper use of personal protective equipment, protocols for work‑related accidents and the psychological stresses of field work.

In Rio de Janeiro, the city’s health secretariat continued its "SVS na Rua" campaign, deploying teams to 19 neighbourhoods across the city. Over the past months, more than 4.8 million property inspections were carried out, resulting in the treatment or removal of over 1.6 million potential mosquito‑breeding containers. The campaign emphasizes community education and rapid response to eliminate Aedes aegypti breeding sites.

Both initiatives reflect a coordinated effort by Brazilian municipal health authorities to strengthen vector‑borne disease prevention while safeguarding the wellbeing of frontline health workers.
