Brazilian municipal hospitals receive international health recognitions

Several municipal hospitals in Brazil have received significant recognition for quality of care and specialized services.

Maternidade Dr. Moura Tapajóz in Manaus has renewed its ‘Hospital Amigo da Criança’ (Baby-Friendly Hospital) certification. Following an evaluation by the Ministry of Health, the facility maintained its status, which it has held since 2010. This certification, established by WHO and UNICEF, recognizes institutions that promote breastfeeding and provide humanized care during pregnancy, childbirth, and the neonatal period.

In São Paulo, three municipal health units achieved international distinction. The Hospital Municipal Dr. Gilson de Cássia Marques de Carvalho (Vila Santa Catarina) and the Hospital Municipal Dr. Moysés Deutsch (M'Boi Mirim) were named among the 50 best hospitals in Latin America by IntelLat. Notably, these were among only nine public institutions included in the ranking of 105 facilities. Additionally, the Hospital Municipal Infantil Menino Jesus was recognized by Newsweek as one of the best pediatric hospitals in the world.
