Recognition and milestones of Brazilian hospitals
Overview
Brazilian medical institutions have recently received various forms of recognition and celebrated significant milestones.
In Manaus, Maternidade Dr. Moura Tapajóz renewed its ‘Hospital Amigo da Criança’ certification, a status held since 2010 that recognizes the promotion of breastfeeding and humanized care. In São Paulo, the Hospital Municipal Dr. Gilson de Cássia Marques de Carvalho and the Hospital Municipal Dr. Moysés Deutsch were ranked among the 50 best hospitals in Latin America by IntelLat, while the Hospital Municipal Infantil Menino Jesus was named by Newsweek as one of the best pediatric hospitals globally.
Additionally, Hospital Ibiapaba CEBAMS in Barbacena marked its 60th anniversary with a session honoring staff members, and the Hospital de Base Luís Eduardo Magalhães in Itabuna celebrated 28 years of operation with commemorative events and plans for a staff memorial.
Recent assessments regarding patient safety have also yielded high compliance certifications. The Hospital Municipal de Aparecida de Goiânia Iris Rezende Machado (HMAP) achieved 100% compliance in an assessment promoted by the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa), becoming one of only eight units in the state of Goiás to reach this maximum index. Furthermore, the Alberto Urquiza Wanderley Hospital, a high-complexity unit of Unimed João Pessoa, received a ‘High Compliance’ certificate from the Paraíba State Health Surveillance Agency (Agevisa) for its Intensive Care Unit (ICU) safety practices, marking its fifth consecutive year of receiving this recognition.
