Brazilian municipalities conduct infrastructure and flood prevention works

Municipal governments in Brazil are conducting infrastructure maintenance to improve safety and prevent environmental issues. In São José, the Secretariat of Infrastructure is performing dredging operations on the Forquilhas River near Avenida Gervásio José da Silva. Using hydraulic excavators and dredges, crews are removing accumulated sand and sediment to increase the river's flow capacity and mitigate flood risks, particularly in anticipation of El Niño weather patterns.

In Poços de Caldas, the Secretariat of Infrastructure and Public Works is executing structural repairs on a 70-year-old containment structure for a stream on Avenida Santo Antônio. The work is being conducted during the dry season to ensure safety and efficiency. The project includes vegetation management along the stream banks and has resulted in a lane closure between Avenida Antônio Carlos and Rua Araçuaí to accommodate the construction.
