Brazil municipal health initiatives: Vaccination drives and mosquito control
Various municipal health initiatives are underway across Brazil. In João Pessoa, the Health Secretariat is advising citizens that delayed vaccine schedules do not require restarting from the beginning; instead, doses should be resumed where they were interrupted. The city has also implemented Larvicide Disseminating Stations (EDL) to combat Aedes aegypti by using female mosquitoes to carry larvicide to breeding sites. Additionally, the municipality is providing guidance on proper emergency contact procedures for the Samu 192 service.
Animal health campaigns are also active. In Dourados, a drive-thru event successfully vaccinated 1,504 dogs and cats against rabies. Similar rabies vaccination efforts are being conducted in Virgínia, MG, and Primavera do Leste, which recently immunized nearly 1,800 pets during its first stage. These campaigns aim to increase coverage and prevent the spread of rabies to humans.
