Brazilian municipalities expand free veterinary services for pets

The municipality of Sorocaba in São Paulo state launched a mobile veterinary clinic on 8 June, offering preventive consultations, health assessments and referrals for dogs and cats in vulnerable neighborhoods. Appointments are limited and scheduled online, with services running from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the USF Sabiá health unit.

In São João Batista, Santa Catarina, the city announced the first list of beneficiaries for the "Pet Levado a Sério" program, which provides free sterilization and micro‑chip implantation for low‑income pet owners. The initial surgeries are scheduled for 22 June, with a total of 881 slots allocated under a statewide initiative of the Santa Catarina government.
