Brazilian municipalities expand local healthcare access

Municipalities in Brazil are implementing new measures to improve healthcare access for specific populations. In Colíder, the local government has launched the PSF Polo Rural, a basic health unit dedicated exclusively to residents living in the rural areas surrounding the urban perimeter. This unit aims to provide continuous monitoring for elderly patients, pregnant women, children, and those with chronic conditions like diabetes and hypertension, reducing the burden on municipal emergency care.

In Soledade, a new partnership has been established between the Municipal Basic Pharmacy and the Specialized Pharmacy of Paraíba (formerly CEDMEX). This collaboration is designed to facilitate access to specialized medications, eliminating the need for many patients to travel to other municipalities to collect their prescriptions. The initiative follows a formal request from the local city council to improve pharmaceutical assistance for residents in need.
