Brazilian municipalities launch cultural funding calls
Municipalities in Brazil are launching new cultural funding initiatives through the Aldir Blanc National Culture Promotion Policy (PNAB).
In São Gonçalo, Rio de Janeiro, the local government has opened a R$ 1.3 million public call to finance free festivals, exhibitions, and cultural circuits. The funds will support seven projects across categories including music, dance, theater, circus, and urban arts. The selection process includes quotas for Black and Indigenous participants and prioritizes local production and accessibility in peripheral and rural areas.
In Caucaia, Ceará, the administration has launched the 'Edital das Artes' with a total investment of R$ 520,000. Described as the largest direct cultural promotion call in the municipality's history, it aims to support artists, groups, and producers who have resided in Caucaia for at least two years. Applications are open until October 19, 2026, via the SisGed platform.
