Brazilian municipalities launch major road drainage and drainage projects

The municipality of Araucária in Brazil has begun a 1.5‑kilometre revitalisation of Rua Curió, adding drainage, new asphalt surfacing, sidewalks, curbs and later signage. The work follows a 300‑metre extension completed in early 2026 that linked the street to a nearby roundabout, improving access to several avenues.

In the Jardim das Nações neighbourhood, the city council has started drainage works that are about 20 % complete, forming the first phase of the Vira CG Infraestrutura programme. The R$15.7 million investment will install a drainage network for nearly five kilometres of streets across 17 roads, preparing them for future asphalt paving. A second phase will pave an additional seven kilometres. The project is part of a broader R$280 million effort to upgrade drainage, paving, resurfacing and cycling infrastructure, aiming to reduce flooding and boost mobility for residents.
