Brazilian municipalities launch teacher training programs in Apucarana and Mogi das Cruzes

The Municipal Education Authority in Apucarana continued its "Jornada Pedagógica" on July 24, offering in‑person sessions for roughly 1,500 teachers, coordinators and directors from municipal early‑childhood centers and schools. The program prepared staff for the second semester with workshops on topics such as Libras, physical education, literacy, foreign languages and neuroscience‑based learning, held at UTFPR, Unespar and other venues. As municipality secretary Ana Paula Donato noted, "Os professores dos CMEIs e das Escolas Municipais participam de uma programação organizada por áreas específicas…".

In Mogi das Cruzes, the municipal education department held a three‑stage anti‑racist education formation for about 300 school agents and support staff. The initiative combined online study of ethnicity‑related concepts with in‑person lectures and workshops covering equity, cultural memory, music, games and non‑violent communication. Deputy education secretary Catia Moyano opened the event, emphasizing the need for "todos tenham conhecimento para agir de forma mais equânime" to ensure equal opportunities for children and adults.

Both events illustrate local efforts in Brazil to strengthen pedagogical practice and promote inclusive, equitable education.
