Brazilian municipalities modernize public lighting with LED technology
Municipalities in Brazil are advancing urban infrastructure through the modernization of public lighting systems by replacing traditional sodium lamps with LED technology.
In São Ludgero, the transition to LED is being implemented to improve visibility, public safety, and energy efficiency while reducing maintenance costs. The initiative aims to optimize the use of public resources through improved urban management.
In Rio das Antas, a project totaling R$ 1.14 million is underway to replace over 1,000 traditional luminaires. Funded through the Celesc Energy Efficiency Program (PEE Celesc) and regulated by ANEEL, the investment includes R$ 922,412.65 from Celesc, R$ 20,800.00 from the municipality, and R$ 19,090.83 from third parties. The project is expected to reduce annual energy consumption by 41.67%, saving approximately 287.14 MWh per year.
