Global municipal LED lighting modernization

Overview

Various municipalities in Mexico, Colombia, Argentina, Chile, and Spain are implementing urban lighting modernization projects to enhance energy efficiency and public safety.

In Mexico, Saltillo authorities replaced 780 luminaires on the Luis Echeverría roadway with LED units to reduce energy consumption by approximately 40 percent. In Bogotá, Colombia, a pilot for intelligent public lighting on the Calle 85 and Carrera 15 corridor utilizes sensors to monitor faults and adjust intensity based on traffic and pedestrian flow.

In Argentina, the government of Concepción del Uruguay invested over 76 million pesos to install 74 LED columns along Avenida Rodríguez Artusi, covering more than 3 kilometers to replace sodium lamps. Further developments in Argentina include the installation of 67 LED luminaires in Río Colorado and efforts in Esquina to improve nighttime visibility. Additionally, the Chamber of Deputies in Catamarca granted partial approval to the Provincial Intelligent Management and Monitoring System for Public Lighting (SIGIMAP) to improve maintenance efficiency through technological monitoring.

In Chile, the Municipal Council of Aysén unanimously approved the purchase of 460 new 150-watt LED luminaires to enhance safety and comply with environmental regulations regarding night sky protection.

In Spain, renovations began on Avenida del Ejército in Crevillet. Mayor Germán Beardo announced the use of Basic S Lat LED luminaires to reduce municipal electricity consumption and support local commerce.
