Brazilian national detained by ICE at Seattle-Tacoma Airport

Sara de Cassia Alves, a 36-year-old Brazilian national residing in Florida, has been detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) following her arrival at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport on September 11. Alves was traveling with her American husband, Thomas Boudreau, to attend a relative's wedding when they were approached by agents.

While the official reason for the detention has not been released, family members suggest the issue pertains to her visa status and a work-related extension of stay. Alves is currently being held in a shared detention facility, where relatives have reported crowded conditions and limited access to resources.

A court hearing is scheduled for October 5 to address the case and the possibility of bail. In response, the family has launched fundraising campaigns in both Brazil and the United States to cover legal fees and potential bond costs, which are estimated to range between US$ 7,000 and US$ 20,000.
