Brazilian officials confront alleged pre‑campaign propaganda by local politicians

The Electoral Public Ministry in Bahia asked the Electoral Court to order the immediate removal of an Instagram video posted by Eraldo Félix, the mayor of Érico Cardoso, claiming the content constitutes illegal pre‑campaign propaganda and threatens municipal employees who do not support the governing party. The ministry warned of a daily fine of R$ 10,000 and urged the platform to block further distribution.

In Mato Grosso, PSD state president Carlos Fávaro defended former Cuiabá mayor Emanuel Pinheiro after a video showed him placing money into the pocket of his coat. Fávaro said the episode had already been judged by voters and dismissed it as having little impact on the party, while noting that physician Natasha Slhessarenko, also of the PSD, has a lead in the internal pre‑candidacy race.
