Brazilian orchestras host classical music concerts and tributes

Various orchestral events are taking place in Brazil, highlighting both contemporary educational programming and tributes to classical composers.

The Orquestra Sinfônica da Paraíba – Jovem is performing a concert on October 1 at the Espaço Cultural. Conducted by Luiz Carlos Durier, the program includes a suite for children narrated by pianist Lucas Bojikian, titled ‘Blim Blem Blom’ by Tim Rescala, as well as works by Vincent D’Indy and Johann Svendsen. The event features oboe soloist David Stefesson.

In São Paulo, the Orquestra Sinfônica da USP (Osusp) is hosting the IV Camargo Guarnieri Week from September 29 to October 3. The event honors the founder of the orchestra, Mozart Camargo Guarnieri, through a series of concerts, recitals, and lectures. The program includes performances by Guarnieri's daughter, violinist Tânia Camargo Guarnieri, and features works by contemporary composers alongside the honored maestro's repertoire.
