Brazilian police coordinate security planning for upcoming elections

Police forces and electoral justice representatives in Brazil are coordinating strategic planning to ensure security during upcoming election cycles.

In Guanambi, the 17th Military Police Battalion held a lecture series to prepare personnel for the 2026 elections. The meeting included electoral judge Ronaldo Filho and prosecutor Francisco Júnior, focusing on operational organization, legal conduct, and institutional integration to align security strategies for the upcoming vote.

In Canoas, the 15th Military Police Battalion has finalized planning for the first round of elections to prevent violence. This follows a previous election where a homicide occurred near a polling station in the Niterói neighborhood. To mitigate risks, authorities plan to deploy officers on foot near schools, double the number of patrol vehicles around smaller polling sites, and establish specialized teams to respond to reports of electoral crimes and illegal campaigning.
