Poze do Rodo Released After Court Order in Brazil

Brazilian funk singer Poze do Rodo (Marlon Brendon Coelho Couto da Silva) was released on Thursday, 14 May, after serving nearly a month in preventive detention at the Joaquim Ferreira Penitentiary in Bangu, Rio de Janeiro. The release was ordered by the Tribunal Regional Federal of the 3rd Region, which found no sufficient grounds to maintain his pre‑trial custody.

Poze had been arrested as part of the federal police’s Operation Narco Fluxo, which is investigating a alleged multi‑billion‑real money‑laundering scheme involving illegal gambling, clandestine raffles and front companies. The probe alleges the group moved more than R$ 1.6 billion.

Under the court’s decision, Poze must report his correct address within ten days, remain in his city of residence for at least five more days, obtain authorization before leaving Brazil, and attend monthly court hearings. He posted a photo on social media from the car showing a heart gesture after his release. The artist reiterated that he has no ties to any criminal faction.
