Brazilian schools start July recess, municipalities begin maintenance work

During the July school recess, municipal schools in Várzea Grande, Brazil, are carrying out structural repairs, painting, tree pruning, deep cleaning, fumigation and reorganization of spaces without interrupting educational activities. Municipal education secretary Maria Fernanda Figueiredo said the break also allows the processing of student transfers.

The Pernambuco Teachers' Union (Sintepe) issued a reminder that the statewide recess for public schools begins on July 10, as stipulated in the official school calendar, and urged schools and regional education offices to observe the scheduled pause for students, teachers and staff.
