Orleans Brandão tours Maranhão, rallies support at agribusiness forum and regional meetings

Orleans Brandão, the pre‑candidate for governor of Maranhão, attended the second edition of the Agrosamas agricultural fair in São Mateus on 6 June. Invited by mayor Miltinho Aragão, he spoke alongside Senator Weverton Rocha about modernising the state’s agribusiness, emphasizing the need for public investment, the expansion of grain‑processing facilities and the role of Embrapa. He highlighted past programmes such as “Tempo de Semear” and land‑regularisation efforts, asserting that legal security for producers is essential for the state’s agricultural frontier.

During the same week Brandão visited the municipalities of Pedreiras, Trizidela do Vale and Peritoró, meeting former mayors, legislators and local officials. He pledged to upgrade the Pedreiras health clinic to a maternal‑child hospital, to attract new industries, and announced plans for a regional slaughterhouse in Peritoró to boost the local production chain. The events drew large crowds, with supporters praising his record and promising continued investment in roads, water treatment and urban infrastructure across the Médio Mearim region.
