Brazilian towns approve and discuss 2027 budget guidelines

The municipality of Ribeirão Pires (São Paulo) approved its Lei de Diretrizes Orçamentárias (LDO) for the 2027 fiscal year. The document sets fiscal targets, prioritises the continuation of existing projects, and outlines transparency mechanisms such as periodic reporting. Mayor Guto Volpi said the LDO provides “planning, responsibility and focus on the population’s priorities.”

In Ponta Porã (Mato Grosso do Sul), the city council held a public hearing on the LDO for the 2026‑2027 period. Council members and the municipal finance secretary presented the proposed fiscal guidelines, emphasizing community participation, the allocation of resources to health, education and infrastructure, and the next steps for drafting the annual budget law.
