Brazilian towns launch 2026 local sports competitions

In Pedreira, the Police Military hosted a technical congress for the 2026 PROERD Recreational Games, bringing together teachers, coaches and representatives from seven municipal schools and three private institutions. The event outlined schedules for futsal, women's dodgeball, athletics, mixed tug‑of‑war, checkers, cornhole and table tennis, with opening ceremonies set for 18 September at the Santa Sofia Sports Gym.

Meanwhile, Dourados is preparing its 2026 Open Games (JADs), registering 67 teams to compete in futsal, volleyball, basketball, handball and athletics for both men and women. A technical congress will be held on 12 August at the Jorjão sports complex to finalize match pairings and competition rules. The municipal sports foundation (Funed) will oversee the tournament, which targets athletes aged 16 and older, including those no longer eligible for school competitions.
