Brazilian towns launch mobile health units to boost emergency and primary care
The municipality of Congonhas in Brazil has added a new mobile intensive‑care unit to its fleet. The Type D ambulance, equipped with a defibrillator, multiparametric monitor, infusion pump, ventilator and other advanced life‑support gear, will support the transport of severely ill patients and join five basic‑support and two advanced‑support ambulances already in service.
In the neighboring state of Rio de Janeiro, the city of Teresópolis will operate a mobile health unit throughout August, visiting nine rural communities on a rotating schedule. The unit will provide medical consultations from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and dental care from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., aiming to reduce travel needs for residents in remote areas.
