Brazilian towns Venâncio Aires and Rio das Ostras celebrate local cultural festivals

Around 600 people gathered at Cabana São Judas Tadeu in Linha Grão‑Pará, Venâncio Aires for the 4th Café Colonial Disseminando Culturas on Saturday, 11 May. The night featured performances by the Coral São Martinho, the German folk‑dance group Grüner Jäger, an evangelical community orchestra and youth groups, and marked the relaunch of the Austrian Tyrolean costume used by the Die Schwalben troupe. Council President Nelsoir Battisti praised the use of municipal funding to preserve cultural roots, and the event honored late member Darci Dirceu Neumann.

On the same day in Rio das Ostras, the I Festival de Fatias de Bolo was held at the Centro Ferroviário de Cultura Guilherme Nogueira. Organized by RC Doces with support from the Fundação Rio das Ostras de Cultura, the festival offered more than ten cake and tart flavors—from chocolate and brigadeiro to Nutella‑infused options—and attracted dozens of visitors. Owners Halaff Barreto and Manuella Rosa said the turnout exceeded expectations and confirmed plans for a future edition, emphasizing the event’s role in activating the historic railway centre.

Both celebrations highlight community‑driven efforts to revitalize local cultural spaces in Brazil.
