Brazilian transit departments implement digital and appointment systems

Transit departments in the Brazilian states of Rondônia and Mato Grosso are implementing digital and scheduling systems to improve service efficiency and reduce physical queues.

In Rondônia, the Detran-RO Service Center allows citizens to resolve vehicle and driver's license issues via mobile phone or computer. The platform offers public services, such as vehicle status checks and appointment scheduling, as well as restricted services requiring login. Restricted services include vehicle sales authorization, digital document generation (CRLVe), digital license plate requests, and driver's license renewals or second copies.

In Mato Grosso, Detran-MT has utilized an appointment-based system since 2020 to manage in-person services. This system allows users to select specific dates, times, and locations via the official website. The initiative, originally adopted during the Covid-19 pandemic, aims to prevent crowding and minimize wait times. Detran-MT currently performs approximately 16,000 daily services through various channels, including telephone, the MT Cidadão app, and in-person visits.
