Brazilian TV Networks Revamp Programming and Turn to AI
ARecord announced that its reality show A Fazenda will broadcast live editions on Sundays for the first time since 2011, expanding the block to directly challenge SBT’s Sunday programming led by Patrícia Abravanel. The network also revealed the upcoming season of Dança dos Famosos, set to debut on 16 August, with confirmed contestants Otaviano Costa and actor Junno Andrade. In addition, ARecord hinted at a refreshed version of the hit telenovela Avenida Brasil, altering the role of original heroine Nina, played by Débora Falabella.
RedeTV! dissolved its audience‑analysis department and plans to replace it with artificial‑intelligence tools, a move that could reshape how the channel monitors ratings. The broadcaster, owned by Amilcar Dallevo, highlighted the modest performance of its flagship show A Tarde É Sua, which averaged 0.79 rating points in Greater São Paulo in June, with occasional peaks of two to three points. The decision has sparked debate over the suitability of AI in roles traditionally performed by humans and may set a precedent for other media outlets.
