Brazilian Universities Offer Free Online Courses for Teachers and Professionals
The Federal University of Juiz de Fora (UFJF), in partnership with Brazil’s Ministry of Education, is launching a free 90‑hour distance‑learning course on Libras literacy for educators. The program, aimed primarily at public‑school teachers but open nationwide, provides 300 slots and runs from August 3 to August 9. It also includes paid positions for six collaborators and twelve tutors.
Meanwhile, the Federal University of the Vale do São Francisco (UNIVASF) is accepting applications until August 9 for 900 free specialization places across a range of fields, including Indigenous and Quilombola education, agricultural technologies, health management and more. These 480‑hour, 18‑month courses are delivered through the Universidade Aberta do Brasil (UAB) platform, combining online instruction with occasional in‑person meetings.
