Brazilian utilities broaden consumer assistance in DF and Rio de Janeiro

Neoenergia opened a permanent service desk inside the PROCON/DF consumer protection office in Brasília. The desk, established under a protocol with the Federal District's Consumer Secretariat, allows residents to negotiate debts, update registration, clarify billing questions and access social‑tariff information without waiting for a ticket. The agreement was signed by Neoenergia’s institutional relations directors João Paulo Rodrigues and Juliana Pimentel and consumer secretary Samuel Konig, and will initially run for 12 months.

Enel Distribuição Rio carried out a “Caravana Enel” in Itaboraí, Rio de Janeiro, where 50 energy‑efficient refrigerators were exchanged for older models and 908 LED lamps were installed. The caravan also performed 270 residential and 26 commercial inspections, identifying 293 cases of irregular meter readings and energy theft. The initiative is part of Enel’s Energy Efficiency Program, aimed at reducing consumption and curbing illegal connections that can raise tariffs for all customers.
