Brazilian utilities roll out debt‑relief campaigns amid World Cup

Águas do Rio, part of the Aegea Sanitation group, launched a "Torcida Águas do Rio" campaign that runs until 19 July, the end of the FIFA World Cup. The program offers personalized negotiation terms for overdue water bills, distributes promotional items such as cups, eco‑bags and a custom t‑shirt, and provides assistance through in‑store staff, phone and WhatsApp.

Neoenergia Pernambuco introduced a separate campaign, valid through 31 July, that can discount overdue electricity balances by up to 90 % depending on the debt profile. The initiative reduces or waives interest, fines and in some cases part of the principal amount, and allows payment via PIX or up to 21 credit‑card installments. Customers can negotiate online or at physical service points. Both utilities aim to lower delinquency rates and help consumers regularise their accounts during the high‑visibility period of the World Cup.
