Water supply interruptions and pipe work in Belém and Várzea Grande

In Belém, Águas do Pará completed a planned intervention on the city’s water system, gradually restoring supply after the works were finished in the early hours of 15 July. A separate maintenance operation on the São Brás system caused a brief shutdown in 13 neighbourhoods on the night of 14 July, requiring underwater inspection and valve replacement; water pressure is being restored progressively.

In Várzea Grande, the municipal water and sewage department (DAE‑VG) carried out a scheduled shutdown of the ETA I treatment plant on 15 July for maintenance and modernization, temporarily reducing water supply to dozens of neighbourhoods while upgrades such as inverter installation and telemetry monitoring were implemented.

The Service Autonomous of Water and Sewage (SaaE) performed an emergency replacement of a pipe segment in the Parque Ecológico, warning of possible low pressure or temporary shortages in numerous surrounding districts.

Separately, the Santo Ângelo Municipal Water Authority (Samae) in Santa Catarina replaced about 200 metres of water‑conduit between the Rio Laranjeiras intake and the Ponte Preta‑Brusque do Sul road, using high‑technology PVC‑O pipe to prevent future disruptions and support recent road paving works.
