Mailza Assis Heads Historic Avança Acre Coalition in Election Launch

The Avança Acre convention in Rio Branco officially launched the re‑election bid of Governor Mailza Assis (Progressistas) with a historic ticket that pairs her with former federal deputy Jéssica Sales (MDB), marking the first time two women head a major state ticket. The coalition brings together the Progressive Party, União Brasil, MDB, PL, PDT and Democratas, and also confirmed Senate candidates former governor Gladson Cameli (Progressistas) and senator Márcio Bittar (PL).

The event drew a record crowd at the Sesc Bosque, prompting the coalition leadership to warn that any candidate who does not support the slate could face loss of registration and party expulsion. The alliance’s internal monitoring committee will enforce loyalty.

Senator Alan Rick, also a pre‑candidate for governor, announced his campaign at the Expoacre 2026, saying he entered the race after a “call of the people” and emphasizing his work on health, agriculture and carbon‑market legislation. Meanwhile, gubernatorial hopeful Thor Dantas met with the Federation of Industries of Acre (FIEAC) to stress the need for industrial strengthening and job creation as a cornerstone of his platform.
