Brazilian women pre‑candidates gain community backing in Amazonas and Paraíba

Maria do Carmo, a pre‑candidate for the governorship of Amazonas, met with female community leaders from several Manaus neighborhoods on 9 April. In Paraíba, Ana Cláudia Vital, a pre‑candidate for state deputy, received support from community figures in the Mangabeira district of João Pessoa. Leaders Pedro Cruz and Edson Cruz praised her commitment to female representation, social movements and infrastructure improvements, and pledged to help her secure a top vote count. Both events underscore a push for greater female participation in Brazilian politics.
