July das Pretas 2026 expands political agenda for Black women across Brazil
The 14th edition of July das Pretas, the continent‑wide mobilization for Black women, reached its largest scale in 2026, coordinating 675 activities organized by 292 collectives in 23 Brazilian states and three other countries. The agenda focused on reparations and well‑being, aiming to address structural inequalities and amplify the voices of Black women. Director Naiara Leite described the movement as “a collective response to the violences that Black women suffer, seeking to amplify their perspectives.”
On 25 July 2026, the 10th Moviafro meeting took place in Feira de Santana as part of the same July das Pretas programme. The event gathered Black women entrepreneurs for panels, exhibitions, Afro‑poetic performances and business‑development workshops, seeking to strengthen economic opportunities, cultural identity and policy dialogue for Black women in the region.
