Brazil‑Paraguay Bioceanic Bridge Near Completion, Boosting Mato Grosso do Sul Trade

The International Bridge of the Bioceanic Route, linking Porto Murtinho in Brazil’s Mato Grosso do Sul state with Carmelo Peralta in Paraguay, is about 90% finished, with only 5.6 m of work remaining. The bridge will be the main link of the Bioceanic Corridor that connects Brazil, Paraguay, Argentina and Chile to Pacific ports in northern Chile.

State Assembly President Gerson Claro said the structure will cut transport times and costs, improve the competitiveness of Brazilian exports and attract investment, new businesses and jobs to the region. He stressed that while the bridge is a milestone, further investment in complementary roads, customs facilities, legal certainty and logistics services will be needed for Mato Grosso do Sul to fully exploit the corridor’s potential.
