Brazil's Amazonas and Acre Vice-Governor Candidates Launch Campaigns

In Manaus, Shádia, the Avante party’s candidate for vice‑governor of Amazonas, was confirmed as state president of Avante Mulher. Speaking at a women’s gathering, she called for greater female representation in politics and highlighted her past work as the first female municipal health secretary, noting health policies that benefited women. The event was attended by gubernatorial candidate David Almeida and other party leaders.

In Rio Branco, federal deputy Jéssica Sales, running for vice‑governor of Acre alongside gubernatorial candidate Mailza Assis, pledged an active role. She said she will travel across municipalities and hospitals to hear citizens’ concerns and bring them to the governor’s office, emphasizing a hands‑on approach rather than a purely ceremonial position.
