Brazil's Anatel extends telemarketing block measures through October 2028
Brazil's telecom regulator Anatel has prolonged the deadline for measures that let consumers block unwanted telemarketing calls until 31 October 2028. The agency estimates that the rules now prevent about 85 % of such calls from reaching users. Key elements include the “Não Me Perturbe” platform that allows free blocking, the mandatory 0303 prefix that identifies telemarketers, and a temporary suspension of any telemarketing firm that makes more than 100 000 short calls per day with a rapid hang‑up rate of 85 % or higher. Companies hit by the rule are barred from making further calls for 15 days. In the past four years, Anatel says roughly 247 billion unwanted calls have been blocked.
Cristiana Camarate of Anatel noted, “Já bloqueamos mais de mil empresas que descumpriram esta regra,” while industry lawyer Claudio Tartarini added, “Você não sabe quem é, então não dá para combater se você não souber quem é.” The extension aims to reduce consumer annoyance and protect both users and legitimate service providers from abusive call practices.
