Brazil expands Minha Casa, Minha Vida housing with thousands of new homes

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s government announced the selection of 8,025 new homes for the state of Pará, including 6,220 rural units and 1,805 units for entities, as part of the Minha Casa, Minha Vida (MCMV) program. The allocations are included in the Novo Programa de Aceleração do Crescimento, which earmarks roughly R$ 10.5 billion for the construction of about 85,000 homes nationwide, prioritising small municipalities and reserving 48 % of units for indigenous peoples, quilombolas and other traditional communities.

The federal initiative also raised the overall targets to 50,000 rural homes and 35,000 entity‑based homes, bringing the total contracts since January 2023 to 2.4 million units, with more than 1.9 million already delivered. In parallel, Caixa Econômica Federal launched the “Reforma Casa Brasil” loan scheme, allowing families with up to R$ 13 000 monthly income to obtain up to R$ 50 000 for home renovations at 0.99 % monthly interest over six years.

In Guanambi, Bahia, 204 families were pre‑selected for the next phase of the MCMV program, 91 % of whom are women. The municipal social assistance office will conduct a document‑check to confirm the final 150 families that will receive the new houses.
