Brazil Justice System Launches Holiday Camp, Cultural Youth Program and Women Training Initiatives
The Tribunal de Justiça do Distrito Federal (TJDFT) inaugurated the 2026 Colônia de Férias on July 3 at Chácara Manaé. The holiday camp, organized with the Vara de Execuções Penais, the Grupo de Monitoramento e Fiscalização, and the Associação Edificar, offers theatre, musical, workshops and letter‑writing activities for children and adolescents whose parents are incarcerated, aiming to lessen the social impact of imprisonment and strengthen family ties.
The National Council of Justice (CNJ) opened the 5th edition of the “Caminhos Literários” program, a virtual and in‑person cultural initiative for adolescents serving socio‑educative measures. The 2026 edition focuses on hip‑hop as a tool for identity and social transformation, with events in Tocantins, Amazonas and other states, featuring workshops, graffiti sessions and dialogues with artists such as rapper Vida Nova.
The Secretaria de Estado de Justiça, Direitos Humanos e Cidadania (Sejusc) reported a 15.4% rise in women’s enrollment in professional courses, offering 24 programmes in beauty, IT, logistics, languages and more. New makeup workshops began on 9 July, targeting women in vulnerable situations to improve employability and economic autonomy.
