Brazil adds 20 new electric models and RAM Dakota pickup to 2026 auto lineup

Brazil's automotive market is set for a major expansion in 2026. More than 50 new vehicles are scheduled for launch, including 20 fully electric models slated for the second half of the year. The electric lineup features offerings from Baic, DFM, IM, Denza, Cadillac, Lotus, BMW, Volvo, Porsche and others, spanning hatchbacks, SUVs, sport‑backs and luxury cars.

In addition, RAM has launched the Dakota Big Horn pickup in Brazil with a starting price of R$ 249,990. The entry‑level medium‑size truck retains the brand's diesel 2.2‑litre engine (200 hp), eight‑speed automatic transmission and 4×4 system, while adding a suite of safety and convenience features such as autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control and a 12.3‑inch infotainment screen.

Toyota has also signaled interest in developing a pickup based on the RAV4 platform for markets such as the United States and Australia, though no official development plans have been confirmed. Together, these announcements illustrate a rapid diversification of Brazil's vehicle offerings, with a strong push toward electrification and a broadened range of utility vehicles.
