Brazil's carioca bean prices stay firm amid limited supply

Brazil's market for high‑quality carioca beans entered July with prices holding steady, driven by restricted supply despite the start of irrigated harvests in the Cerrado region. The Centre for Advanced Studies in Applied Economics (Cepea) reported that early harvests from Goiás and other irrigated areas remain insufficient to shift the balance between supply and demand, while the processing industry continues active purchases to replenish low inventories.

In Paraná, the second‑crop harvest of carioca beans is nearing completion, and the region remains a key source of the crop. Black beans are also seeing divergent regional price movements; the closure of the harvest in Paraná, the main producer, combined with reduced cultivated area and climate‑related losses, keeps the best lots tightly held by market participants.

Overall, the sector expects a gradual increase in supply through July, but as long as industrial stocks stay low and new volumes arrive modestly, price support for premium beans is likely to continue.
