Brazil's CazéTV investigated for betting ads during 2026 World Cup

CazéTV, the digital platform broadcasting all 104 matches of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, has come under regulatory scrutiny in Brazil. The Ministry of Justice’s consumer protection agency, Senacon, opened an investigation into the channel’s integration of fixed‑odds betting promotions from Bet365, Betnacional and KTO during live broadcasts and pre‑match segments. The National Advertising Self‑Regulation Council (Conar) has already classified some of the advertisements as abusive, recommending their suspension.

Analyses by media monitoring groups found 74 betting suggestions across 48 matches, with a 61% miss rate on predicted outcomes. Betting ads have become the second‑largest advertising category in the tournament, after food and beverage, raising concerns about public health, financial vulnerability and the adequacy of existing advertising rules for digital-native formats. Studies cite Brazil’s monthly betting spend at roughly R$30 billion and indicate potential misuse of public assistance funds. The case highlights regulatory gaps as the industry expands faster than oversight mechanisms.
