CazéTV reduces World Cup betting ads after Conar injunction
The National Advertising Self‑Regulation Council (Conar) issued an emergency injunction on 26 June to suspend betting advertisements it deemed abusive on CazéTV’s live streams of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The decision, signed by councilor Luiz Celso de Piratininga Jr., targets promotions from Betnacional, Bet365 and KTO that combined real‑time odds, QR codes and presenter calls to action, which Conar said could mislead consumers, especially minors.
CazéTV announced that it has already altered its commercial format, removing live odds and presenter‑driven betting pitches and adopting a more traditional advertising style. The channel said the changes were made in response to consumer complaints, a preliminary investigation by the National Consumer Secretariat (Senacon), and broader public and political criticism. Conar gave the broadcasters five business days to report corrective measures, and warned that further monitoring could lead to a formal ethical process.
FIFA stated it sees no conflict of interest in CazéTV’s ownership by LiveMode, which holds the exclusive World Cup media rights for Brazil. The Ministry of Justice has also opened an inquiry into the channel’s betting promotions. CazéTV remains the sole platform airing all 104 matches in Brazil, while other broadcasters carry a subset of games.
