Brazil's Cenipa to release final report on 2024 Voepass crash

The Brazilian Air Force’s accident investigation agency Cenipa announced it has completed its investigation of the Voepass ATR‑72‑500 crash that killed 62 people near Vinhedo, São Paulo, on 9 August 2024.

The final report will be presented at a press conference on Thursday 23 July 2026 in Brasília by Cenipa chief Brigadier Alexandre Avellar Leal and the investigative team. The document does not assign legal responsibility; a separate Federal Police inquiry is also nearing completion.

Leaked preliminary findings indicated the accident resulted from a combination of pilot errors, corporate safety‑management failures and shortcomings at the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC). Issues cited include ignored de‑icing system defects and pilot “distraction” during critical procedures.

Voepass and ANAC have not commented on the findings. ANAC said it will issue a response after receiving the official report.
