Brazil's CNBB Opens Registrations for National Ecumenical Training Gathering

The Episcopal Commission for Ecumenism and Inter‑religious Dialogue of Brazil’s National Conference of Bishops (CNBB) announced that registration is open for the National Ecumenical Formation and Experience Meeting. The three‑day event will be held in person from 4‑6 September 2026 at the Centro de Convivência Mãe do Bom Conselho in Jundiaí, São Paulo. The programme includes masses, lectures on the challenges of Christian dialogue, workshops on evangelisation directives for 2026‑2032, and communal meals. Participants must cover their own accommodation, with double rooms at R$185 per day and single rooms at R$205, plus all meals.

At a separate CNBB gathering of secretaries‑executives, Father Tiago Síbula highlighted the need for communion, listening and conversion of relationships within the Church. Using the metaphor of an orchestra, he warned that freedom without humility leads to division and identified three “temptations” that undermine unity: substituting dialogue with interpretation, prioritising roles over persons, and fostering an “us‑versus‑them” mindset. He proposed three paths of conversion—of relationships, processes and bonds—to restore genuine communion and strengthen the Church’s mission.
