Brazil's CNH Digital app offers vehicle transfers and fine discounts

The CNH Digital application, developed by Serpro for Senatran, offers various digital services to over 82 million registered users in Brazil. The platform allows the digital driver's license to serve as an official legal identification document nationwide, equivalent to the printed version.

Key features include a 40% discount on traffic fines, provided the driver acknowledges the infraction through the app and waives the right to an administrative defense. This discount depends on the specific enforcement agency's participation in the national system. Additionally, the app enables digital vehicle transfers between individuals via facial biometrics, removing the need for notary services. To use this feature, both parties must have a Gov.br account at the silver or gold level, and the vehicle must have documentation issued after January 4, 2021.
