Brazil's Communications Minister Frederico de Siqueira Filho talks up TV 3.0 rollout
Brazilian Communications Minister Frederico de Siqueira Filho appeared on the interview program "Na Mesa com Datena" to outline the country's progress on the next‑generation digital television system, TV 3.0. The technology, described as a convergence of broadband internet and traditional broadcast, is currently in test trials under the Empresa Brasil de Comunicação (EBC) at a station in the TV tower in Brasília.
The minister emphasized that TV 3.0 will enable interactive applications for viewers and aims to bring public services such as health and education closer to citizens, arguing that this will broaden democratic participation. He highlighted Brazil's leadership in broadcast standards, 6G research and extending mobile coverage to remote regions. Frederico de Siqueira Filho, who took office in April 2025 after leading Telebras, reaffirmed the ministry’s readiness to support other government bodies with infrastructure and technological upgrades.
